Sneak Peak: Upcoming Project "SUR"

I'm going to be creating a series of illustrations based off a short story by Ursala Le Guin called "Sur." Here are a few sneak-peak sketches!

Michal Makarewicz!!!

On Saturday, April 20th the SHM club was lucky enough to host Michal Makarewicz for an open lecture. Mike is a directing animator at Pixar Animation Studios and the co-founder of The Animation Collaborative. Mikes lecture was hilarious, and informative for all disciplines. Thanks again Mike!

Colin Fix!!!

On April 6th the Shrunkenheadman Club was lucky enough to host Colin Fix for another awesome presentation and Photoshop demo. Colin is a great friend of the program and agreed to come talk about hard surface texturing in Photoshop. Colin was an illustrator at Lucas Arts Entertainment and contributed to projects like Star Wars 1313. He is also a total badass.

Colin is literally a wizard.

Sometimes he stands on tables.

Shrunkenheads taking notes.

Me with the mug, Colin with the orange sauce.

Colin doing some doodles.

If that wasn't enough, Colin did the whole presentation while cracked out on a couple hours of sleep. Thanks for being such a beast, Colin!

Classwork: 117B, First Pass

In desperate need of some perspective fixes, some value adjustment, and a good deal of elbow grease... but its on its way! The class is on to other things but I will make updates on this piece as soon as I catch a free moment. I would love to get some tacky bar props and wear and tear into this local tavern. Until next time ~khecks

Classwork: 117B, Fifth Element Development Work

Our current class assignment has been to develop an environment inspired by the film The Fifth Element and the artistic styles of Mobius and Jean-Claude Mezieres. The environment should fit the feeling, shape language, and artistic sensibilities of these influences. My design is a local dive bar that Bruce Willis's character might hang out it. Color comps and final illustrations to come.
