Nickelodeon Philanthropy Project

Every semester the interns of Nickelodeon Animation Studio participate in a philanthropy project to benefit the local community. This semester we painted a mural for R.L. Stevenson Elementary School in Burbank, CA. Each of us submitted designs and I was lucky enough to have my design chosen to take to finish. The mural would revitalize the lunch shelter and be 8 feet tall and 49 feet long.

The original design called for substantial revisions.

My original theme was breakfast, lunch and dinner in California, featuring the redwoods, desert, sierras, and coastal regions. The piece would move from sunrise to midday to sunset.

Characters were traded for animals at request of the client.

It was an honor to work as the project lead. I was able to consult with Andre Nieves who paints many of the murals inside of Nick's main building. I created a list of necessary paints and supplies, did the initial line drawing on the wall, and organized our amazing team of volunteers.

Friday, Day 1
Monday, Day 2
Our Day 4 Crew. Frankie is Fabulous.

We completed the mural in 4 days, working from 2pm until 6pm or 9pm each night. We were super excited to see the finished product and can't wait to hear what the students think of their new space.

Need a mural for your space? I'm itching to do another one:
